Paul Meyer, age 83 of Sac City, IA, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Paul Leonard Meyer was born at his grandmother’s house in Sac City on March 12, 1936, to parents Merle Leonard and Neva Evelyn (Larsson) Meyer. He grew up in Sac City where he was baptized in the Baptist faith and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church on December 25, 1955. Paul graduated from Sac City High School with the class of 1954.
On December 18, 1955, Paul was united in marriage to Iris (Polzien) Meyer at the Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake, IA. This union was blessed with three daughters: Debra, Laurie and Teresa. Paul had an egg route and picked up eggs. He also worked for Hygrade until 1981, and after that closed, he worked for Wetherell Trucking and Carl Mauer Tiling until retiring in 1984. In his free time, Paul enjoyed fishing, wood working, watching the TV show COPS, and helping his daughter remodel houses. He adored his dog Charlie, they kept each other company. He will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Debra (Chris) Palen of Sioux Falls, SD, Laurie (Todd) Hansen of Denison, IA, and Teresa (Todd) Luckow of Sac City, IA; grandchildren: David Palen, Amanda (Brooks) Castelluzzo, Katie (Mark) Sharp, Jackie (Jim) Krajicek, Kylie (Clint) Homan, Ashley (Devin) Conover, Brent Graybill (Ariana Batz), Caleb (Leah) Luckow, and Jordan Luckow; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings: Don (Judy) Meyer of Brookfield, WI, Kathy (Dick) Newell of Dexter, MO, Mary Hilsabek of Hixson, TN, and Marcia (Ron) Skrdla of Ames, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Paul is preceded in death by his wife and parents.
