Joseph Darwin Jones, age 88 of Lytton, IA, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City.  Darwin was born on February 21, 1931, on a farm near Lytton to parents Charlie and Hilda Jones.  He was the brother to Dean (Edna), Tom (Dianne), Wilma (Don) and Doris (Jim).  Darwin received his schooling at the Lytton Public School, graduating in 1948. 

  In 1951, Darwin was united in marriage to Myra Haradon, a local school teacher.  He then spent the next two years in the Marine Corp. and when he returned home, he began farming.  Two children were added to the new family, Dave (Gloria) who live in Georgia and Beth (Jeff) who live in Lytton. 

  When Darwin and Myra married, they made a list of things they wanted to do during their life together.  Almost all the list was accomplished.  One major accomplishment was hosting Kris Latamaki, from Finland, for one year.  She became a loved member of the family.  Over the years, three grandchildren: Elaina, Misti and Michael, six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren were added to the family. 

   Darwin lived a rewarding life.  Besides farming, he worked at the Co Op Elevator and when he completely retired, he began making furniture.  Many homes in Lytton have samples of his wood working skills.  Dar was lucky to have eight summers working and living on Mackinac Island in Michigan.  He was in charge of four Friesian Horses and all the additional gear that went along with them.  Many times, he made statements saying he wished he had started this job sooner in his life.  To him, these summers were a dream come true.  We now miss him and feel we had the opportunity to spend many years with one of the finest men God made.
