Dean A. Brown, age 96 of Rolling Meadows, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Midwest Care Center Hospice-Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington, IL. He was born April 2, 1923 in Jackson Township, Boone, Iowa, the youngest child of Josias E and Martha (Engstrom) Brown. Dean graduated from Iowa State University in 1948 and taught Vocational Agriculture at Odebolt Community School and managed the Sac County Farm Bureau insurance agency before returning to graduate school at Iowa State. He completed a masters in Agricultural Economics in 1958 and was an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska for 6 years. He joined the American Farm Bureau Federation in 1963 and retired as Director of Feed Grains, Oilseeds and Wheat in 1988. He and his wife Joanne Wadsley Brown (born in Early) celebrated 70 years of marriage on July 24, 2019.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings. Surviving are his wife, Joanne Brown, daughters and son in laws Pete and Deborah Hernandez of Barrington, IL, Sammy and Dulcie Ariail of Clarkesville, GA; four grandchildren, Nicole Goldberg (husband Ari) of Greenwood Village, CO, Jeron Hernandez (wife Megan) of Algonquin, IL, Melissa Ariail and Emily Jo Ariail both of Clarkesville, GA; 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Dean enjoyed travel, golf, fishing, loved God and music; singing in barbershop quartets and church choirs throughout his life. He shared a joke and smile with everyone he met.
