Ed Quail, age 63 of Sac City, IA, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA. Edwin Wayne Quail was born on January 16, 1956, to parents William and Mildred (Jackson) Quail in Sac City. He and his seven siblings grew up in Sac City. He attended grade school as well as high school in the Sac City Community School District. Ed always told stories about he and his siblings helping their mom in the garden in their younger years. Afterwards it was off to the Raccoon River for a good cooling-off. They always had fun together and were grateful for one another.
On July 31, 1983, Ed married Jodi Peyton in Sac City, they later divorced. This union was blessed with three children: Anthony, Andrew and Alexander. Later, Ed was united in marriage to Michelle “Micki” Daly (Galloway) on February 28, 2004, in Sac City. This union brought him three step children: Ryan, April and James. Ed made his home in Sac City. He worked in various industries throughout his life starting with Noble Manufacturing in Sac City. Ed retired in 2016 from Hillshire Foods in Storm Lake, IA, after 23 years of employment. He never missed a day of work. Ed loved life. He had a great sense of humor and always kept busy doing things that he enjoyed. He loved fishing, golfing and playing cards. Ed’s boys can tell you some great stories about their “snipe hunting” adventures that their dad led them on. Ed loved watching football and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs. He also cheered on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Ed was a member of the Sac City Men’s Club, coached youth baseball, played on an adult volleyball league and was the pitcher for the men’s slow pitch softball team “Taps Keg Beer”. He cherished his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ed was a wonderful cook who loved preparing feasts for family gatherings. He was quite the baker too...his chocolate cherry chip cookies almost made him famous. Ed’s smile, laugh, and yes, even his ‘orneriness’, will be missed so much by his family and all those who knew and loved him.
