   Jerel Rodger Frank, age 70, of Lake View, IA, passed away on Saturday, March 23 2019, at his home in Lake View.  Jerel was born on July 25, 1948, at McVay Hospital in Lake City, IA, to parents Hiko and Alma (Mohr) Frank.  He grew up on the farm in rural Lake View and was baptized at Peace Lutheran Church in rural Ulmer, IA and confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View.  Jerel attended country school and graduated from Lake View-Auburn High School.  After graduated, he continued his education at Iowa Central Community College and then Buena Vista University, graduating with his bachelor’s degree in social studies.  Jerel also served with the National Guard for one term.

   On September 6, 1975, Jerel was united into marriage with Elaine Platt at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll, IA.  This union was blessed with two children: Jon and Jen.  Jerel was a farmer and also worked at Vogel Popcorn and Opportunity Living in Lake City, IA.  He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed tinkering, fishing, camping and traveling.  Jerel was a people person and was always willing to help anyone who needed it.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.    

   Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Elaine Frank of Lake View, IA; children: Jon (Brigit) Frank of Sac City, IA and Jen (Adam) Larsen of Ida Grove, IA; grandchildren: Evan and Sawyer Larsen and Adam and Cole Frank; sisters: Joanne Wiese (Dave Nelsen) of Fort Dodge, IA and Marcia Frank of Lake View, IA; and other extended family members and friends.  His life will always be loved and cherished by his family who survive him.

   Jerel was preceded in death by his parents and brother Verlyn Frank.

“My deepest sympathy to Elaine and Jeral’s family. I am two months older than Jeral. When I was pre-school age, my grandpa, C.W.Pierce, bought eggs from Jeral’s mom and dad at the family farm and I rode along in the truck as often as Grandpa would take me. Of, course he and his siblings would have been there to help, but my first remembrance of Jeral is tag football in 7th grade at Auburn (girls against the boys) and then on the high school team with my husband, Steve. Jeral was always friendly and I am sure he will be greatly missed.

“Jerel was my double cousin. He was 6 months younger than me. As children, he and I spent nearly every Sunday afternoon playing or riding ponies together. I last talked to him in January 2018 at my brother Dennis’ funeral. I know Jerel and Dennis are now serving their Lord. Rest In Peace Jerel. You’ve earned it.”
