Evelyn Mae (Peters) Fredrichs, a resident of Twilight Acres in Wall Lake, IA, passed away at Twilight Acres on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, reaching the age of 85.
Born January 21, 1934, in Sac County, IA, she was the youngest daughter of Abel and Sarah (Jackson) Peters. She graduated from Sac #2 Country School north of Ulmer, IA and then from Lake View High School with the Class of 1952.
On February 22, 1953, Evelyn married Donald Fredrichs at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View, IA. To this union, five children were born: Sandy, Sue, Delane, Sherry, and Sally.
Being a farm wife and raising a family was her life’s calling. Watching her children and grandchildren in all their endeavors was one of the highlights of her life. Evelyn also enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, putting puzzles together, playing the piano, and gardening. You could witness her green thumb by seeing all of the African Violets always blooming in the house. She was an avid reader of current events, history, economics, and the Bible. Evelyn taught her family the insights of living and family values, she lead by example.
Evelyn was active in the church, serving as an ordained elder, a choir director, a member of Presbyterian Women, she taught Sunday School and directed Vacation Bible School for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 23 years.
Those left to cherish Evelyn’s memory include her children: Sandy (Randy) Aschinger of Lake View, IA, Sue (Ken) Barney of Lake View, IA, Delane (Linda) Fredrichs of Kingsport, TN, Sherry (Jeff) Kruse of Wall Lake, IA, Sally (John) Young of Mt. Ayr, IA, Mariamelia Santos of Hollywood, FL, and Norma Stolet of Rio de Janiero, Brazil; fifteen grandchildren, 1 step grandchild; 16 great grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister Marjorie Reinhart of Lake View, IA; brother Roger (Rita) Peters of Lake View, IA; brother-in-law Ray (Jan) Fredrichs of Carnarvon, IA; sisters-in-law Delores Freed of Sioux City, IA, Sophia Fredricks of Des Moines, IA, and Marilyn Fredrichs of Carnarvon, IA; many extended family members and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents Abel and Sarah Peters; brother James M. Peters; sisters LaVerna Bettin and Beulah Onken; sister-in-law Grace Bruns; brothers-in-law Wes Bettin, Lyle Onken, Maynard Reinhart, Herman Fredrichs, Leonard Fredrichs, Leroy Fredrichs, Ted Bruns, and Eugene Freed.
