Eleanor Faye Padgett, age 96 of Early, IA, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Eleanor was born on May 10, 1922, to Frank and Edith (Coburn) Cloyd in Loami, IL. She grew up near Springfield, IL, and graduated from Waverly High School in Illinois as Valedictorian. After graduation, Eleanor test drove vehicles at Allis-Chalmers in Springfield.
On February 2, 1952, Eleanor was united in marriage to Wilber E. Padgett at the United Methodist Church in Loami, IL. They were blessed with their son, Herb. They later moved to Clarence, MO, where they began farming. Eleanor loved everything John Deere and working on the farm. She enjoyed the outdoors, riding motorcycles and flying airplanes with Wilber. After retirement in 1987, Eleanor and Wilber moved to Florida to enjoy the warm weather. In 2006, they decided to move to Early, IA, to be closer to their son, Herb. Up until last year you could find Eleanor on her John Deere mowing the lawn and working outside. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, wife, sister and friend and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years Wilber Padgett of Early, IA; son Herb (Robyn) Padgett of Early, IA; grandchildren: Gina and Gennifer; great-grandchildren: Carter, Paige, Brendan, Kai, Kali, Autumn and Ellie; many extended family members and friends.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Gala; siblings: Lee, Russell, Grace, Millard, Arthur and Wayne.
