Normadine Vogel

Normadine Vogel, age 86, of Twilight Acres, Wall Lake, IA, was called to her eternal home on March 17, 2014. Normadine Maxine Pautsch was born on April 7, 1927, near Deloit, IA, to Herbert and Hedwig (Jensen) Pautsch. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, IA. She attended grade school at Goodrich #1 in Crawford County and graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1945. After graduation, Normadine worked for the Office of War Price and Rationing in Sac City. She also studied to earn a Limited Elementary Teachers Certificate and taught at Jackson #1 (Hillside) Country School from 1947-1949.

On December 26, 1948, she was united in marriage to Eugene Raymond Vogel at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. Their union was blessed with four children: Reginald, Vickie, Reed and Patricia. They made their home together on the Vogel family farm, just north of Wall Lake.

In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Normadine was employed at Boyer Valley Fertilizer and Midwest Valley Chemical for 29 years, retiring in 1996. She had been an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Legion Auxiliary and Wall Lake Historical Society. Family meant everything to Normadine and she cherished the time spent together. She also valued the many friendships she had developed through the years. Prior to moving to Twilight Acres, she enjoyed entertaining in her home, traveling, playing bridge and her morning coffee group at Doc’s Place. She had an interest in organizing family and class reunions.

Those left to cherish her memory included her children: Reg (Connie) Vogel of Polk City, IA, Vickie Vogel of Thornton, CO, Reed (Cindy) Vogel of Fayetteville, AR, and Pat (Tim) Dorr of Rockford, IL; grandchildren: Regina (Tim) Homan, Bridget (Andy) Slagter, Justin (Mandy) Vogel, Megan Vogel, Lindsey (John) Grebe, and Sarah Dorr; great-grandchildren: Makenzie, Nicholas, Carter and Zachary Homan; Lincoln and Martin Slagter; Brooklyn and Tyson Vogel; and Emmerson Grebe; brothers: Robert (Marijean) Pautsch of Wellington, NV and Roger Pautsch of San Luis Obispo, CA; sister-in-law: Malinda Longman of Sac City; special cousins: Shirley Fillman and Gayleen Ruth of Paton; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
