Dan Hoffard, age 64 of Sac City, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at his home in Sac City. Danny Lee Hoffard was born on May 20, 1954, to parents Don and Verlee (Mott) Hoffard in Sioux City, IA.
Dan attended school in Sac City, and after graduating enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. where he served overseas during Vietnam as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician. He was honorably discharged in 1973.
On May 15, 1976, Dan married Jewel Mancillas in Elk Point, SD. This union was blessed with three children: Amy, James, and Dominic. Together, they made their home and raised their family in Sac City. Dan worked in construction most of his life. He had many hobbies including collecting coins, making jewelry, hunting and fishing. He loved riding down the open road on his motorcycle and made sure he took every opportunity to do this until his health no longer allowed it.
Dan loved his family and was especially happy to become a grandpa to his four grandsons. He was so proud of their accomplishments. Dan will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Jewel Hoffard of Sac City, IA; children: Amy (Bryant) Clair of Sac City, IA, James (Bre) Hoffard of Lytton, IA, and Dominic Hoffard of Sac City, IA; grandsons: Brandyn, Tony, and Ryan Clair of Sac City, IA; parents Don and Verlee Hoffard of Sac City, IA; brothers: Darrell (Darcy) Hoffard of Sac City, and Ben (Dorthy) Hoffard of Sac City; sisters: Roxanne Lowe of Sac City, and Renae Hosteng of Sac City; parents-in-law Ray and Donna Mancillas of Marshalltown, IA; brothers-in-law: JR (Julie Miller) Mancillas of DeKalb, IL, and Joe (Tammy) Mancillas of Hematite, MO; sisters-in-law Dale (Paul) Westrich of Jackson, MO, and Jennifer Knight of Jackson, MO; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Bryant Clair; mother-in-law Amy Mancillas; maternal grandparents Benjamin and Lena Mott; and paternal grandparents Donald and Marie Hoffard.
