   Don Weisenborn, age 89, of Sac City, IA, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018, at his home in Sac City. Donald Duane Weisenborn was born on March 9, 1929, to Fred and Lura Weisenborn in Sac City. He grew up in Sac City where he attended grade school and graduated from Sac City High School in 1947. Following graduation on August 3, 1948, Don was enlisted into the United States Army where he served his country in the Korean War. He earned the ranking of CPL and was honorably discharged on June 7, 1952.

  On December 19, 1953, Don was united in marriage to Delores Nicholson, in Lake City, IA. This union was blessed with three sons: David, Steve, and Terry. Don worked as a parts manager in various garages in the area for 40 years and retired in 1994. He joined the Sac City Fire Department in 1958 and was an active member for 34 years. He loved to travel and had been to 48 states here in the US and also traveled to Canada. Don enjoyed attending his sons sporting events and later on, his grandsons. He loved to go fishing and liked to work in his garden. Don was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and looked forward to attending their games as well as watching them on TV. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

   Don is survived by his sons: David (Arline) Weisenborn of Jacksonville, FL, Steve (Nancy) Weisenborn of Carroll, IA, Terry (Jennifer) Weisenborn of Exira, IA; grandchildren: Joshua Weisenborn and Kyle Weisenborn both of Jacksonville, FL, Jeff (Lena) Weisenborn of Urbandale, IA, Jay (Amy) Weisenborn of Carroll, IA, Caleb Weisenborn of Omaha, NE, and Hayden and Everly Weisenborn of Exira, IA; great-grandchildren: Parker and Sam Weisenborn of Urbandale, IA, and Stella Tasler and Jack Weisenborn of Carroll, IA; and many extended family members and friends.

   Don was preceded in death by his wife Delores; parents Fred and Lura Weisenborn; brothers Fred Jr., Darrell, and Cliff Weisenborn; grandson Chad Michael Weisenborn and granddaughter Oakley Ann Weisenborn.
