Marvin A. Stille, age 88, of Schaller, IA, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Paula Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, IA. Marvin was born on February 7, 1930, to William and Lillie (Offerle) Stille on a farm near Schaller where he grew up with his eight siblings. He graduated from Hayes Consolidate High School in 1948 and continued his education at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake.
On September 12, 1952, Marvin was united in marriage to Marlene Ford in the Methodist Church in Storm Lake. They were blessed with three daughters, Pamela, Colette, and Sara.
Farming was Marvin’s passion. He loved planting and harvesting the crops and raising and showing cattle. Traveling with his family to various shows was a favorite memory of theirs and later in life he even became a judge. Marvin played baseball beginning at a very young age, eventually playing for the minor leagues including the St. Louis Browns, Storm Lake White Caps, and then Schaller Red Caps. He was an avid Yankee’s and Cubs fan. After he retired from farming, he went to work at Walmart, where he worked until 2013. He looked forward to Thursday nights out with his family and eating out with his Walmart friends. Marvin will be remembered as a jokester, loved to make people laugh and enjoyed playing cards. He was always full of life and never one to complain.
The love of his family was his greatest blessing. He loved to follow all his children and grandchildren’s activities and spending time with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
