Judy Herrig, age 74 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at UnityPoint Health Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, IA.
Judy was born on May 16, 1944, in Crawford County, IA to Leonard and Darlene (Gehring) Dreessen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St John’s Lutheran in Boyer, IA. Judy grew up in the rural Boyer area, where she attended country school. To finish her education, she completed grade school and graduated from high school in Wall Lake.
Judy was united in marriage on June 1, 1963 to Duane “Speed” Herrig at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. They were blessed with three children: Janene, Bryan, and Jeff.
Judy worked at Wall Lake Savings Bank following high school and since 1963 has owned and operated Speed’s Auto and Golf Cars, Lakes Warehouse Distributing, Cookies Food Products, and Ad Pro Variety with her husband Speed. They spent the last 55 years working together and building their businesses.
Judy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading books, traveling, watching NASCAR races, and going to the casino. She was great in the kitchen and loved to cook for the holidays. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Judy’s memory are her husband Speed of Wall Lake, IA; children: Janene Herrig Mickel of Ellisville, MO, Bryan (Marni) Herrig of Wall Lake, IA, and Jeff (Nici) Herrig of Wall Lake, IA; grandchildren: Noah Mickel, Sam Mickel, Cassie (Robert Glissmann) Herrig, Cade (Jordan) Herrig, Colton (Kelsey) Herrig, Callie Herrig, Camber Herrig, Coen Herrig, Sidney Herrig, Kendal Herrig, Damon Herrig, Cooper Herrig, Tyson Herrig, and Quincey Herrig; great-grandson Rylan Glissmann; sister Cynthia (Larry) Kelly; beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law, grandparents, grandson, Camden Herrig, and brother-in-law Charles Tucker.
