Norma Bugge, age 91 of Carlisle, IA passed away on August 28, 2018 at Westview Care Center in Indianola, IA. Norma was born on January 31, 1927 in Greene County IA, to parents Stanton and Arvilla (Calvert) Savage. She was baptized at an early age and confirmed in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View in 1947, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid for several years. Norma grew up in Greene County, IA and graduated from Cooper High School in 1944.
On June 20, 1946, Norma married Elmer Bugge and lived in Lake View where they raised 2 sons Jerry and Craig. Norma taught for four years in rural country schools and worked as a hot lunch cook for 21 years in the Lake View School. In her early years, she taught Sunday school and was a Cub Scout leader. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, baking and spending time with her family and friends. Elmer passed away in June 2008, ten days before they would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. After Elmer’s passing, Norma moved to Carlisle to be closer to her family because of failing health. During her time in Carlisle, she was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Norma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her two sons: Jerry and his wife Teresa Bugge of Carlisle, IA and Craig and his wife Josett of Lubbock, TX. Four Grandsons: Kevin (Amber) Bugge of Brookfield, CT, Andrew (Kirsten) Bugge of Carlisle, IA, Zachary Bugge of Lubbock, TX and Derek (Christy) Bugge of Powder Springs, GA; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, parents; a grandson Jason; step father Sam Wolf; two sisters Mildred Savage and Donna Scheuermann; and sister in Law Hazel Bruns.
