Randal Edward Rasmussen, age 74, of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Loring Hospital in Sac City.
Randy was born on November 11, 1943, to parents Harry and Garnet (Wedeking) Rasmussen in Storm Lake, IA. Randy lived in one of the Howard Center’s group homes for 46 years. He worked at the Howard Center’s recycling plant as well the work assistance program out in his community.
Randy lost his mother when he was just 10 years of age to a tragic tractor accident. His father remarried a few years later to Jane (Sutton) Rasmussen. When he lived in Nemaha, IA, as a youngster, he enjoyed riding his bike around town and visiting with people. Randy loved to travel. One of his favorite places to go was Branson, MO, at Christmastime because he loved to see the lights and enjoyed listening to the music. He loved his family and spending time with them.
Randy was a lifelong member of the Nemaha United Methodist Church. Once he moved to Sac City, he enjoyed attending the First Presbyterian and St. Paul Lutheran Church services.
All of Randy’s family and friends will miss his laughter and the joy he took in life.
His family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of the staff at the Howard Center for the compassionate and dedicated care they gave Randy over the years.
Those left to cherish Randy’s memory are his sisters: Diane (Loyd) Koch of Rockford, IL, Anna (David) Kolodziej of Lakewood, CO, and Kathleen “Kit” (Marvin) Munden of Storm Lake, IA; nieces and nephews: Megan (Koch) Huels and husband Brian along with children Ellie and Avery Huels, Dustin (Alexandra) Koch, Kristine and Tyler Munden, and Alexandra Miller; many extended family members and friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Axel and Anna Rasmussen; maternal grandparents Bill and Ruth Wedeking; parents Harry, Garnet, and stepmother Jane Rasmussen.
