Mildred Wright, age 95, of Mason City, IA, formerly of Early, IA, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Mason City. Mildred was born on July 31, 1922, in Cook Township, near Schaller, IA, to parents Henry Christian and Martha Selena (Halling) Miller. She was baptized in April of 1925, at the Schaller Methodist Church. She graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1938.
Mildred married the love of her life, Melvin Wright, on October 30, 1941, in Schaller, IA. To this union three children were born: Darwin, Sue, and Bill. Mildred and Melvin made their home in Early and remained there for 70 years. Melvin passed away on February 4, 2012.
Mildred was a wonderful mother and housewife who took great pride in that role. She loved to cook and also enjoyed playing cards and dancing. Mildred was also an active member of the United Methodist Women’s church group. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mildred is survived by her children: Darwin Wright (Glenda DeYoung) of Bartlett, TN, Sue (Tom) Landgraf of Mason City, IA, and Bill Wright of Odebolt, IA; grandchildren: Tyler (Chelsea) Landgraf of Ozark, MO, Robert (Claire) Landgraf of Rochester, MN, and Hannah Landgraf (Eric Rucker) of Des Moines, IA; great-grandchildren: Keira and Max Landgraf, Frances Landgraf; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin; parents Henry and Martha Selena Miller; brother Walter Miller; sisters-in-law Betty Miller, Josie Miller; and an infant brother.
