Jason “Fred” Friedrichsen, age 41, of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018. Jason Aaron Friedrichsen was born on March 8, 1977, to parents Eugene and Linda (Wehner) Friedrichsen in Ida Grove, IA. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. Jason was raised on a farm south of Wall Lake, attended elementary school there and later graduated from WLVA in 1995. Jason went on to attend Western Iowa Tech and graduated as an Electrical Journeyman and later became a Master Electrician.
On October 22, 1999, Jason married Sarah Werkmeister at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. They were blessed with three daughters: Madison, Mariah and Meredith. Jason started his career at Edsen Electric in Ida Grove. He also worked in electrical maintenance at Western Iowa Energy in Wall Lake. From 2011 until present, he was an electrical tech at Evapco in Lake View.
Jason loved to fish and be on the water. You could always catch him telling fishing stories. He enjoyed trips to South Dakota, time spent on his pontoon, cooking, grilling and did we mention, he loved to fish? Jason was a kind person and would give the shirt off his back to help someone out. He cherished time spent with friends and family, especially his girls. He took pride in his daughters’ achievements and attended every activity they were a part of. Jason acquired the nickname “4x4 Fred” in high school and was honored to know that his oldest daughter, Madi, shared the same nickname of “Fred” with him. Those moments and memories made will be especially treasured. Jason was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Jason leaves behind his daughters: Madison, Mariah and Meredith, and their mother Sarah, all of Wall Lake, IA; parents: Eugene (Marla Jean) Friedrichsen of Carroll, IA, and Linda (Charles Sr.) Bates of Ida Grove, IA; brother Jeremy Friedrichsen (Jennifer Porter) of Audubon, IA; sisters: Michelle Lindner of Lake View, IA, and Crystal (Loren) Brake of Rembrandt, IA; step-brother Charles Bates Jr.; step-sister Dawn (Jeff) Bates; 12 nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, extended family members, and all his close friends that he loved like family.
Jason is preceded in death by his brother Justin, Friedrichsen; paternal grandparents Ommo Friedrichsen and Marcella (Walter) Korner; maternal grandparents Norman and Carol Wehner; great-grandmother Lydia Evans; two cousins, T.J. and Michael Friedrichsen.
