Mark Walter Mueggenberg, age 55, of Fort Dodge, IA, formerly of Sac City, IA, passed away following a tragic vehicle accident near Duncombe, IA, on Monday, June 4, 2018. Mark was born on March 11, 1963, to parents Walter and Grace Mueggenberg in Sioux City, IA. He grew up in Sac City where he attended grade school and graduated from Sac City Community High School in 1981. Following graduation, Mark attended DeVry Institute in Phoenix, AZ. While there, he met and married Sandy Thomas and in 1991 they moved to Sac City. After Sandy’s death, Mark married Holly McCrea and inherited three step-daughters: Lindsey, Leslie and Lacy.
Throughout his life, Mark had various occupations, most of them related to agriculture. He spent most days farming and also raised a menagerie of unique animals, like his pot bellied pig. Music was always a big part of his life and he especially enjoyed going to concerts. Mark loved to have a good time, never met a stranger, and always had a good joke or story to tell. Mark had a kind soul and a smile that people won’t forget. He will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Grace Mueggenberg of Sac City, IA; step-daughters: Lacy (Ben) Kischer of Sac City, IA, Leslie (Joe) Heun of Crescent, IA, Lindsay (Matt) Beveridge of Des Moines, IA; several step-grandchildren; brother Merle Mueggenberg of Sac City, IA; sister Mary (Doug) Stilwell of Urbandale, IA; three nieces and one nephew; three great nieces and two great nephews; many extended family members and friends.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Walter Mueggenberg; first wife Sandy Thomas; and step-granddaughter Sidney Griffor.
