Kenlee Schomaker, age 64 of Early, IA, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018, at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, IA, after a courageously fought battle with cancer.
Kenlee Jay Schomaker was born on July 26, 1953, to parents Clair and Maxine (Turnquist) Schomaker in Storm Lake, IA. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove. Kenlee grew up with his parents in the Linn Grove area and attended school in the Sioux Valley school system. He graduated with the class of 1972 from Sioux Valley High. After graduation, he attended college at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, graduating with his Associates Degree in Feed and Fertilizer.
On October 13, 1979, Kenlee was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jane Feilmeier, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early. This union was blessed with two daughters, Nicole and Kelsey.
Kenlee was a tank wagon truck driver for Larson Oil for many years. He would go on to drive a semi-truck and finish his career by hauling products for Koster Grain. He loved tinkering in his garage, although when asked by his family what he accomplished, he could never really say. He was a man full of love and one who was loved deeply by his family and friends. Everything he did, he did for “his girls.” Kenlee loved golfing and enjoyed playing cards in his free time. Kenlee and Jane, along with their daughters, also ran a catering business on the side for over two decades. Kenlee was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Early Fire Department for over twenty years. Kenlee will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jane; daughters Nicole Schomaker of Le Mars, IA, and Kelsey Schomaker of Sioux City, IA; mother-in-law Wilma Feilmeier of Early, IA; brothers-in-law Lynn Feilmeier of Early, IA, Don (Mickey) Feilmeier of Harcourt, IA, Dale (Mary) Feilmeier of Early, IA; sister-in-law Bonnie (Kevin) Ehlers of Sioux Rapids, IA; brother Steven (Bev) Schomaker of Cedar Falls, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Kenlee is preceded in death by his parents Clair and Maxine Schomaker; father-in-law Art Feilmeier; sister-in-law Irene Feilmeier.
