Darwyn Glen Witte, age 72, of Des Moines, IA, formerly of Sac City, passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA , on Sunday, April 22, 2018. Darwyn was born on December 15, 1945, to parents Robert and Joyce (Prell) Witte in Sac City.  He grew up in Sac City where he attended grade school and graduated from Sac City High School in 1964.  Following graduation, Darwyn served in the United States Army for two years. After his discharge, he continued his education at Iowa State University where he graduated with an engineering degree in 1972.

   Darwyn was united in marriage to Sally Sue Blessington at the Lutheran Church on August 26, 1972.  This union was blessed with three children: Jason, Sarah and Nathan.  Darwyn and his wife raised their kids in Des Moines where he worked as a construction engineer for Pittsburg Des Moines Steel up until his retirement in 2008. 

    In his free time, Darwyn loved fishing, stamp collecting, building and collecting model airplanes,  brewing his own beer and making wine.  He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and cherished time spent with family and friends.  He will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him. 

   Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sally Sue Witte of Des Moines, IA; children: Jason (Julie) Witte of Logan, IA, Sarah Witte of West Des Moines, IA, Nathan (Lindsay) Witte of Carlisle, IA; grandchildren: McKenna, Beckham and Payton; Lila, Liam, Nora and Lucy; brothers: Larry (Donna Marie) Witte of New York, David (Michelle) Witte of Sac City, IA; sister Jolene (Jim) Hultgren of Storm Lake, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

   Darwyn is preceded in death by his parents and infant sister Carol.
