Steven Dennis Goecke, age 47, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA. Steve was born on April 19, 1970, in Sac City, the youngest of three sons, to Donald and Mary Lou (Rutenbeck) Goecke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Marys Catholic Church in Sac City. Steve graduated from Sac City High School with the Class of 1988. He attended Drake University and Briar Cliff, where he majored in voice performance.
On November 29, 2014, Steve married his partner, Charles Schulte in Council Bluffs, IA. They made their home in Sac City. Steve had a kind heart and gentle nature and treasured time spent with his family.
Steve enjoyed finding unique items at garage sales, antique stores and thrift shops to decorate or sell online. He was a regular at the New Hope Village Store in Carroll. He loved interior decorating and became a gourmet cook, cooking for his family and friends, and trying out new recipes.
Steve owned and operated the Townhouse Restaurant in Sac City for several years and also worked at numerous other restaurants in Sac City. He enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels and was an active member of St. Marys Choir. Steve had an amazing voice that he shared with us all, especially singing for many funeral services. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his husband, Chuck Schulte of Sac City; step-sons Eric (Barbara) Schulte of Tampa Bay, FL, Robert (Megumi) Schulte of Jacksonville, FL; step-daughter Gina Schulte of Council Bluffs, IA; step-grandchildren Serina Meinecke, Arianna Castillo, and Erika Schulte; brothers David (Nicolle) Goecke of Carroll, IA, Brian Goecke of Sac City; aunts and uncles Mary Beach of Sac City, Dick Goecke of Las Vegas, NV, Fritz Rutenbeck of San Diego, CA, Lois and Bob Kearney of Ankeny, IA, Judy Teckenberg of Union, IA, Colleen Rutenbeck of Des Moines, IA; many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary Lou Goecke; grandparents Joseph and Viola Goecke, Obert and Gaye Rutenbeck.
