Melissa Renee Dettman, age 41, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018. 

   Melissa was born on July 5, 1976, in Houston, TX, to parents David and Renee (Arceneaux) Rogers. She grew up in Texas, attended grade school and some high school until the age of 16. She then moved to Iowa where she graduated from Sac City High School with the Class of 1995. Melissa was blessed with three daughters: Madison, Krista, and Karyn.

   On October 6, 2007, Melissa was united in marriage to Mitchell W. Dettman at the First Christian Church in Sac City. Melissa worked as an EMT in Carroll, IA…she thoroughly loved what she did.  She was very outgoing and enjoyed singing karaoke, reading, riding horses, going water skiing and going to concerts.  She also enjoyed going to sporting events and was a fan of the Raiders, Royals and Longhorns. 

   Melissa was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.  She enjoyed spending quality time with her children and family and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

   Left to cherish Melissa’s memory are her husband Mitchell Dettman of Sac City, IA; children: Madison Dettman of Sac City, IA, Krista Marie and Karyn Lynne of TX; parents: David (Robin) Rogers of Houston, TX, and Renee (Anthony) Houska of Sac City, IA; brother David (Paula) Rogers of San Diego, CA; sisters: Leslie (Trenton) Kos of North Liberty, IA, Jessica Hines of North Liberty, IA, Haley Hines (Tyler Melchert) of Ely, IA, and Holly Rogers of Houston, TX; grandmothers: Patricia Speer of Sac City, IA, and Jean Rogers of Houston, TX; parents-in-law Mickey and Sue Dettman of Sac City, IA; brother-in-law Mike (Tawney) Dettman of Glidden, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Melissa was preceded in death by her grandfathers: Reginald Arceneaux and William Rogers; grandmother-in-law Mavis Dettman.
