Keith Warren Spicer “Red”, age 97 of Sac City, IA, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at his home in Sac City.
Keith Spicer was born on May 7, 1924, in Carroll, IA, to parents William and Sylvia (Masteller) Spicer. He grew up in Sac County, IA where he attended school. On September 22, 1942, Keith enlisted to serve his country in the United States Navy. He served during WWII as an armed guard and earned the ranking of Gunners Mate 2nd Class. He was honorably discharged on September 25, 1945.
On February 21, 1945, Keith was united in marriage to Rosella Baker in Sac City. The couple farmed for many years northeast of Sac City. He and Rosella made many happy memories traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Following Rosella’s death, he married Betty Olson on December 24, 2012, in Sac City.
Keith was an active member of the First Christian Church in Sac City, and a member of the VFW and Legion. He enjoyed being a farmer and was often found weeding his fields, picking up rocks, or in his vegetable garden. Keith was a good steward of the land and enjoyed experimenting with various farming practices. Keith will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Keith was preceded in death by his first wife Rosella in 2012; second wife Betty in 2017; brothers: Wayne, Lawrence, and Loyd; sisters: Eva and Crystal; niece Beverly Carnine; nephews: Joseph Baker Jr., Richard Mason, Loren Richards, James Baker, and Michael Mason.
