Louise Schultz, age 103 of Lake View, IA passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, IA.  Louise Marie Pfannkuch was born on July 22, 1918 to parents Henry and Therese (Nobling) Pfannkuch in Crawford County, IA.  She was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake, IA and attended country school up until the eighth grade. Louise then moved to California where she tailored uniforms for the students of Berkley College. She returned to Lake View to help in the care of her mother and worked at Wells Dry Goods Store.

On March 31, 1952 Louise was united in marriage to LaVern Schultz. This union was blessed with three children: Greg, Janet, and Richard.  They raised their family on the farm near Lake View where Louise worked as a homemaker and helped LaVern grow the family farm.  Many hours were spent taking care of livestock and baling hay.  She shared her kitchen with many orphan calves and lambs.  Louise often shared many fond memories of attending dances at the Five Mile House and Lakewood Ballroom.  She loved baking and shared that love with her grandkids.  She spent countless hours teaching them how to make bread, buns and apple goodie.  Louise was passionate about her flowers and had a natural green thumb.  She spent many hours in her large garden and countless more canning and freezing the fruits of her labor.  She loved to read and could often be found reading to the grandkids or at the local library.  Louise was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.  She will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Greg Schultz (friend Kim Follenweider) of Lake View, IA; Janet Schultz (Paul Hjortsvang) of Boone, IA; Richard (Linda) Schultz of Lake View, IA; grandchildren: Eric and Nora Schultz and LeAnn and Tyson Boeckman; great-grandchildren: Savannah and Charlotte Boeckman, William and Clara Schultz; many extended family and several friends.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers; Melvin, Wilmer, Arlo, and Vernon and infant sister Gladys.

“Greg, Janet and Rich, Karlene and I just learned of your mom's passing and wish to extend our sympathies to you all. Our family's friendship with the Schultz\Pfannkuch clan goes back many years, and we share in your loss. I'll never forget visiting your mom with my mom at BLCC. When your mom spied my mom, her eyes lit up and she exclaimed, "Willene!" It was such a testament of their long-time friendship. I know they're rejoicing together in Heaven. You'll be in our thoughts & prayers. Karla Kearney ”
