A reading from the second letter of Paul to Timothy (4:6-11): As for me, my life is already being poured away as an offering, and the time has come for me to depart. I have fought the good fight to the end. I have run the race to the finish. I have kept the faith. All there is to come for me now is the crown of uprightness which the Lord, the upright judge, will give to me on that day. And not only to me but to all those who have longed for his appearing.
Ronald Dale Williams was born in Storm Lake, IA, on September 26, 1959, to parents Louella Therldean (Wright) Williams and Estelle Ai Williams. He attended and graduated from Pocahontas Community Schools. Ron cherished the great memories of growing up with his family/siblings and never forgot the fun trips they would often make to the sand hills of Nebraska. After graduation, Ron worked for the Pocahontas County Conservation Board. Fred the cat must also be mentioned because Ron adored his childhood cat that lived even into Ron’s adulthood.
Ron met the love of his life, Cindy Weishaar, in Pocahontas and they were married on July 18, 1981, at the Catholic Church in Laurens, IA. Ron and Cindy moved to Sac City, IA, in 1981 where Ron had accepted a job with the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation. They were blessed with two sons, Travis and Nathan, and remained in Sac City. Ron retired at age 55 after over 30 years with the USDA. His plan was to enjoy life but God had a different plan and he was not able to do everything he had envisioned. He still spent his time making others laugh and loved the time he spent with his sons and grandchildren, Kelon and Devyn. Ron was well known for his humor and some people remember a lot of laughs with "Life According to Ron".
Ron served his community in many ways by being an active member of the Sac City Volunteer Fire Department for many years as well as serving on the Sac City Police and Sac County Sheriff Reserves. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he sang in the choir, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time he loved hunting and fishing. Ron was a great cook who always liked trying new recipes as well as smoking meat and cheese. He  really enjoyed cooking up his fresh catch of the day or even making deer jerky after processing the meat.
Ron was a music man. He loved all kinds/genres and music just ‘spoke’ to him. He played bass guitar and sang with the Lizard Creek Band for many years. His boys recall many band practices that were held in their basement, which meant not getting to bed early as youngsters which of course they were more than okay with.  Ron’s favorite moments, above all, were the ones spent with his family and friends. He was an amazing man who was always there to help others whenever he could.
Ron left his earthly life on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, earlier than anyone expected him to but rest assured, he is living his best eternal life with the one who loves him most, our Lord and Savior.
Ron leaves behind his wife of forty years, Cindy Williams of Sac City, IA; sons Travis Williams and Nathan Williams both of Sac City, IA; grandchildren Kelon and Devyn Williams; former daughter-in-law Tiffany Williams of KS; special son Brandon Clark of Sac City, IA; siblings: Retta Williams (Kenny) of Carroll, IA, Alan (Sun Ok) Williams of MI, Sharon (Drew) Beeber of Carroll, IA, Gary (Angie) Williams of Emmetsburg, IA, Roger (Bonnie) Williams of Mallard, IA, John (Lisa) Williams of Pocahontas, IA, Beverly (Kevin) Meyer of Sac City, IA, Susan (Torri) Williams-Glisson of GA, and Michael (Nicky) Williams of Forest City, IA; parents-in-law Bert (Kay) Arnold of WA, and Lois Carmen of IL; brothers/sisters-in-law: David (Mary) Weishaar of KS, Beverly (Richard) Moore of NJ, Daniel (Tina) Weishaar of MD, Lisa (Jim) Vihstadt of MN, Tony (Jennifer) Weishaar of SD, Klaus (Sandy) Arnold of WA, Michelle (James) Grose of WA, Todd Carmen of IL, Jeff (Dede) Carmen of IL, Shawn (Lori) Carmen of IL, Deidre (Don) Belcher of KY, and Karyn Carmen-Cevene of IL; a large number of nieces and nephews, other extended family members and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Estelle and Louella Williams; brothers Rick Williams and James Williams; and parents-in-law Bernard and Jean Weishaar.
“Don’t think of him as gone away, his journey’s just begun. Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one. Just think of him as resting, from the sorrows and the tears… in a place of warmth and comfort, where there are no days and years. Think how he must be wishing that we could know today, how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched…for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.”
