Lois Meyer, age 89 of Lake View, IA, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA.  Lois Loretta (Finger) Meyer was born at home on a farm in Wall Lake on January 6, 1929, to Fred and Rose (Greve) Finger.  She grew up on that farm in Wall Lake where she attended country school and graduated from Odebolt High School in 1946.  She was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake.  After graduation Lois pursued a career as a stenographer and bookkeeper.

On February 27, 1949, Lois married Dick Meyer at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake.  The union between Dick and Lois was blessed with three children: Craig, Dawn and Scott.  They farmed for 21 years in Sac County.  Over the years Lois enjoyed teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Children’s Christmas programs.  In 1969 they moved to town in Lake View.  Lois resumed office work, retiring in 1991.  Lois and Dick joined Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View where she was active in the Ladies Aide and over time serving as secretary and president. After retirement she enjoyed decorating, floral arrangements, and selling Mary Kay cosmetics. Lois enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes for her family and friends, playing cards in multiple card clubs and collecting angels.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Craig Meyer (Becky King) of Auburn, IA, Dawn Meyer of Kansas City, MO, Scott (Sue) Meyer of Woodbury, MN; her grandchildren: Stacey (Shane) Butner, Jenny (Ryan) Brockman, Katie (Josh) Zimmerman, Corie (Rich) Collins, Kirsten (Joey) Benke, Alyssa Meyer; and her great grandchildren: Keagen Meyer and Paige Zimmerman, Chase and Evan Brockman, Cecilia and Abraham Collins, and Samantha and Breanna Butner.  She is also survived by siblings: Donald (Virginia) Finger and LaVon Boysen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was recently preceded in death by her loving husband Dick.  Also preceding her are her parents Fred and Rose Finger, and her daughter-in-law Jann (Obman) Meyer.

“Just remembering fondly your mother. I enjoyed knowing her since I was a child. We vacationed together one week in Okoboji. I remember pictures of your dad on the dock with a canoe. Sounds like she lived a good, rich and full life.”

“Craig, Dawn, and Scott, you have our sincere sympathy on the passing of your mother. As residents of Twilight Acres, my parents enjoyed visiting with both Dick and Lois. Knowing your parents' strong faith in salvation through Jesus, they are enjoying Heaven today. Dick was one of the many family and friends to greet Lois. Your parents were wonderful people and it was a blessing to know them. ”

“We wish to send our love and sympathy to your family at the passing of your Mother. Jack went to school with Lois and her family and we enjoyed years of knowing them in church. Your Mom was a very special loving lady and she and your Dad went through so much after his injury. They made the best of it, enjoyed a long life together, and are with each other now in their eternal home. We are sorry that we can't attend the services as we are taking our son to Rochester. God's blessings to you. Jack and Carol.”
