Dennis Gosch, age 77, of Sac City, IA, passed away in a tragic car accident in rural Sac County on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Dennis Paul Gosch was born on July 6, 1940, to parents Claus and Thelma (Minser) Gosch in Lake View, IA. He was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City. Dennis attended school in Sac City.
After school, Dennis had various jobs including driving truck for himself as well as others. He drove the milk truck for the Lytton Creamery and also operated a gas station in Lytton where he was able to do what he loved working as a mechanic. Dennis had a knack for building things when it came to machinery of any kind. He could make something out of nothing. His most recent build, being a trike that he made out of an 1100 Honda. He wasn’t so much interested in riding it as he was actually building it. Dennis loved spending time tinkering in his shop.
In the early seventies, the family moved to Newell and had a welding shop called Gosch & Son Welding. After his father passed away, Dennis continued to run the shop until retiring. After selling the shop in Newell, Dennis, along with his brother and best friend, Larry, moved to Sac City.
Dennis and Larry had a very close relationship. He would always speak of Larry’s great cooking although he disliked his job, which would be the cleaning up part. The two of them shared all they had with one another…neither of them would have had it any other way. Larry’s passing back in September of last year, brought Dennis closer to God and he mentioned this. As much as he missed his brother, this loss made Dennis’ faith grow stronger. Rest assured, he and Larry are finding all of the flea markets and gun shows in heaven that they can and enjoying every minute of it, together. Dennis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, including his dog, Chloe.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Phyllis Brus of Lake View, IA, Bettie (Gary) Beckman of Lake View, IA, Steve (Pat) Gosch of Sac City, IA, and Sheryl (Ed) Ohrtman of Fonda, IA; aunts Louise Anderson of Washington and Carol Olyer of Florida; uncle Bob Minser of Arizona; many nieces, nephews, numerous great nieces and great nephews, one great-great niece, many extended family members and friends.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Claus and Thelma, and brother, Larry Gosch.
