Bonnie Jean Aschinger was born July 7, 1927 in Arcadia, IA. She was the daughter of William and Vera (Stoffers) Aschinger. Bonnie was baptized and a member of the Wheatland Presbyterian Church and later transferred her membership to the Lakes United Methodist Church in Lake View where she resided. Growing up, she went to country school in the Odebolt area until her family moved to Wall Lake where she graduated in 1944.

Following high school graduation, Bonnie married Robert Rodman Sr. Together, they had two children: Robert Jr. and Beth Ann. Bonnie worked at the insurance office for three years and Farmers State Bank in Lake View for 33 years. She married E. P. Kettering “Ket” of Lake View in March of 1975. She enlarged her family that day to include three more children: Steve Kettering, Michael Kettering and June Manary. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; Oak Harbor Golf Club; Garden Club and Homemakers Club.

Bonnie loved to dance, do crafts, play cards and fish with Ket at their summer home in Baudette, MN. They were “motor homers” and loved to travel. In her later years, she enjoyed gambling at Winnavegas, eating out, and going for rides. Bonnie treasured going to her great grandchildren’s activities and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Bonnie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

“Dear Bob & Becky, you have our heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your Mom. For many years we did lots of traveling with your Mom and Ket. They stood up for us in Hawaii when we got married. We have lots of fond memories of our trips to the Lake Of The Woods with them. We are in AZ for the winter. Thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. ”
