Ian Wallace, age 36, of Alexandria, VA, formerly of Sac City, IA, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017Robert Ian Wallace was born October 20, 1981, to parents Matthew and Cynthia Wallace at Loring Hospital in Sac City.  He attended school in Sac City, graduating with the class of 2000.  Ian continued his education at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.  After college Ian spent a year interning in Washington D.C. at the Heritage Foundation and then the CATO Institute.  He then went on to graduate school at Widener University in Chester, PA, receiving his Masters of Business Administration degree.  Ian was currently working as a Senior Business Analyst for 1 Source Consulting Inc, in Washington D.C.

As a youngster Ian participated in Cub Scouts and Little League Baseball.  He loved to bicycle and swim.  He often entered the PTA Reflections program where he once won an award for his artwork at the state level.

In high school he was a member of the Mock Trial Team, Thespians, Band, Quiz Bowl, and the National Honor Society.  He entered and won a couple of T-shirt design contests.  He was awarded the Bausch and Lomb Science Award.

Growing up Ian was always excited to explore the country while traveling with his family.

In his younger years, building LEGOS with his good friends was something Ian loved.  Even in adulthood he was always excited when he found a new set of LEGOS under the Christmas tree.  Ian enjoyed all things in the Marvel comic book and movie universe.  He would try each year to attend a comic book convention known as Awesomecon in Washington, D.C.

Ian was licensed as an amateur radio operator at the age of 12.  He was a member of the American Radio Relay League and enjoyed talking on the air with other “HAMS”.

On his 30th birthday good friends helped him celebrate by taking him skydiving.  He found the adventure exhilarating and only told his parents about his celebration when he was back on the ground.

Ian took up the sport of trapshooting and was a member of the National Rifle Association.  He was extremely proud when he honed his skills enough to shoot a perfect round of 25.

Ian was proud of his Scottish heritage.  He and his friends enjoyed taking part in the northern Virginia Scottish games and festival each year.

There was so much more to Ian than what is written above like his love of learning, his love of music of all kinds, his love of nature, and his deep love of family and friends.  All these qualities and more we will remember and hold dear.

Left to cherish Ian’s memory are his parents, Matthew and Cynthia Wallace of Sac City, IA; aunts: Carole (William) Bodard of Centralia, MO, and Jo Anne (Bill) Anderson of Mundelein, IL; cousins: Kelly (Nick) Nilsson, Greg (Donna) Anderson, Amy (Randy) Saller, and Nichole Anderson; and their families.  There are many extended family members and friends as well as Ian’s faithful dog Miss Moneypenny.

He was preceded in death by grandparents: Robert and Elizabeth (Becker) Wallace and Lloyd Arlie and Jane (Minogue) Rice.
