Ethan Nissen, age 17, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017, in rural Sac County as a result of injuries sustained in a tragic accident.

Ethan Glenn Nissen was born on September 1, 2000, to parents Wayne Nissen and Heather (Boeckman) Wagner in Manning, IA. He was welcomed home by his big sister, Samantha. A few years later, he became a big brother to sister Haylee. Ethan was baptized at Peace Lutheran Church on October 15, 2000, in Wall Lake, IA, and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on March 29, 2015, in Sac City. He attended school at East Sac County, and was a junior this year.

Ethan was an exceptional athlete and was a very dedicated player. He played soccer, ran track, played baseball, and football. He also participated in wrestling for a short time. If Ethan had time off of any one sport, you could find him working on the farm or hunting, he loved doing both. He was recently inducted into the National Honor Society. Of course, hanging out with his friends ranked high on his list, he treasured those friendships. Ethan loved his family very much, especially his sisters - regardless of the hard time he might have given them…after all, that’s what brothers are for, right? His smile, his presence, his abilities…will be so missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are parents: Wayne Nissen of Wall Lake, IA, and Heather (Chris) Wagner of Sac City, IA; sisters: Samantha and Haylee Nissen of Sac City, IA; step-brothers: Darren and Derek Wagner; grandparents: Glenn and Colleen Nissen of Wall Lake, IA, Terri Boeckman of Wall Lake, IA, and Allen and Sandy Boeckman of Lake View, IA; great grandparents: Gene and Patricia Boeckman of Lake View, IA, and Gracie Wollesen of Wall Lake, IA; aunts and uncles: Becky and Neal Friedrichsen of Wall Lake, IA, Connie and Ken Severson of Nemaha, IA, Steve Nissen of Wall Lake, IA, Andy and Brook Boeckman of Sac City, IA, Josh Hanke of Schleswig, IA, and Jenna Boeckman of Breda, IA; many cousins, extended family members, friends, and his beloved dog Duke.

Ethan was preceded in death by great grandparents: Danny Wollesen, Edward and Ida Nissen, Cleo “Bud” and Bernice Robinson, and Walter Quandt.

“Iím so sorry for your loss. During this difficult time, assurance from this Bible brings comfort. John 5:28,29 says: ďDo not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come outĒ. In the upcoming near future, God promises that he will resurrect those who have died to life to live on the earth under his righteous rulership. Jw.org
