Larry Gosch, age 75 of Sac City, IA, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 9, 2017. On April 2, 1942, Larry Edward Gosch was born to parents Claus and Thelma (Minser) Gosch in Lake View, IA. He was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View. Larry attended school in Sac City and graduated with the Sac City High School class of 1960. After graduation, he attended LaSalle Trade School. In 1962, Larry joined the Air Force and served in the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1966.

Larry enjoyed life. Whether it was going for a motorcycle ride, hunting, or fishing, he kept busy doing the things he loved. He drove truck for most of his life which took him to many different areas, mostly here in the state of Iowa. He used to spend lots of time with his nieces and nephews when they were young. He took them fishing and did a lot of babysitting. Brian and Mark especially enjoyed his company fishing. Peggy learned to walk while Larry was babysittng with her.

Larry enjoyed cooking, baking and using his smoker to cook various meats which he shared with many others. He even shared his recipes with others, even with Phyllis as recently as last month. He loved shopping at flea markets. Larry was a giver in many ways. It seems every time you’d visit he was always looking around (mind wandering) to find something of his to give you. He sent silk fabric home from Vietnam for his sister Bettie who made her wedding dress out of it.

He enjoyed riding his golf cart around town and his Spider all over the country. Often times encouraging his brother Dennis to also take a ride.  He enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles all of his life.  He started working them with his grandma and then our mom and most recently with his brother.  There was one on his puzzles being worked on the day he passed away.

We know of his faith because he recently told us the reason he shared his income and life with his brother was because he knew God wanted him to be- - expected him to be -- “My Brother’s Keeper.”  And that was the way Larry believed.  He shared his life and whatever he had.  Rest in Peace Larry.

Left to cherish Larry’s memory are his siblings: Dennis Gosch of Sac City, IA, Phyllis Brus of Lake View, IA, Bettie (Gary) Beckman of Lake View, IA, Steve (Pat) Gosch of Sac City, IA, and Sheryl (Ed) Ohrtman of Fonda, IA; aunts Louise Anderson of Washington and Carol Olyer of Florida; uncle Bob Minser of Arizona; many nieces, nephews, numerous great nieces and great nephews, one great-great niece, extended family members and friends.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Claus and Thelma.

“I was another kid Larry always took fishing. We almost always went to Lake View fishing and I also ate a lot of his jerky! I have great memories of Larry and the family. They were our neighbors for years. It's hard to see people you grew up with passing but time goes on and I cherish the time I got to spend with each one. Rest in peace Larry you will be missed!”
