Ethel Blessington, age 88, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Twilight Acres in Wall Lake, IA. Ethel Mae Kluver was born on January 12, 1929, to John and Katie (Fischer) Kluver. Ethel and her family lived on farms in the Wall Lake and Lake View areas throughout her childhood; she attended rural schools in these areas as well. On October 12, 1952 she married the love of her life, Arnold Blessington in San Luis Obispo, California before he went overseas. They were blessed with three daughters: Nancy, Marlene, and Becky.
Ethel and Arnold made their home in rural Sac County, raising their girls on the farm. Ethel loved being a wife, homemaker, and mother, she took pride in providing a loving and comfortable home for her family. She made the BEST peanut butter cookies around! Baking and cooking were among her favorite things to do, as well as playing cards, reading, and gardening - she really enjoyed her flowers. Ethel also loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and spending time with her neighbors at their monthly coffee club.
Those left to cherish her memory include: husband Arnold Blessington of Lake View, IA; daughters: Nancy (Lyn) Bruns of Lytton, IA, Marlene (Dan) Ackerman of Sac City, IA, Becky (Dave Irwin) Pontious of Sac City, IA; grandchildren: Melissa (Charles) Barnett, Katelyn Bruns, Morgan Ackerman, Quentin Ackerman, and Cody Pontious; brothers: Darrell Kluver of Lake View, IA, and Kenneth (Lorraine) Kluver of Worthington, MN; sister Carol Ann Sieck of Mesa, AZ; and many extended family members and friends. Ethel will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ethel was preceded in death by parents John and Katie Kluver; brother Everett Kluver; sister Dorothy Milton; and an infant sister.
