Dewey D. Stout, age 74, of Nemaha, Iowa, died on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at the Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa.

Dewey Donald Stout, the son of Glenn and Lola (Stanzel) Stout, was born on his parent’s farm near Sac City on November 11, 1941.  He lived his youth on the farm and received his education at the Crestland Community School, graduating with the Class of 1960.  He faithfully served his country in the United States Army as a Spec 5 from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1969.  Two years of Dewey’s military service was spent in Germany.

On December 13, 1980, Dewey was united in marriage to Charalottee Lewis at the Varina United Methodist Church and this marriage was blessed with two sons: Benjamin Donald and Barnaby Daniel.  Dewey had the agricultural gift of growing crops and he lived his lifetime devoted to his farming vocation.  He retired from farming in 1983 and was in the maintenance department at Hardee’s in Storm Lake for the next 15 years.  Dewey had a passion for his flower and vegetable gardens, sharing his flowers and produce with his family and friends.  He also enjoyed his hobby of woodworking.  He was a member of the Nemaha United Methodist Church.  Dewey had a very deep and abiding love for his family and “his family meant everything to him”.  Dewey was also a frugal and conservative man who kept everything.

Dewey’s life is celebrated and cherished by his family which include his wife: Charalottee of Nemaha, Iowa; his sons: Benjamin Stout and Barnaby Daniel (Amanda) Stout both of Nemaha, and Jeff Johnson of Nemaha: his grandchildren: Lakota, Adrian, Kaitlyn, and Grace; two sisters-in-law: Mary Stout of Alta, Iowa and Marvel Stout of Sac City, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
