     Jim Fertig, age 76, of Lake View, IA, passed away at his home near Lake View on Friday, October 28, 2016.  Jim was born on March 5, 1940, to L. J. and Lillian (Barthman) Fertig in Sac City, IA.  He grew up in Sac City where he graduated from Sac City High School with the class of 1958.

     On October 11, 1958, Jim was united in marriage to Nancy Blair in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.  To this union five children were born: Cindi, Jimmy Dale, LuAnn, Lori, and Norm.  Jim was a farmer by heart, he loved the farm life and was a Jack of all Trades.  He retired in October 2002.

     Jim loved riding motorcycles and spending time with his family and friends.  Survivors include his wife, Nancy Fertig of Lake View; children: Cindi Fertig of Lake View, LuAnn Kennebeck of Wall Lake, Lori Huffman of Newell, and Norm Fertig of Stanton, MI; 15 grandchildren: Jeremy, Amber, C. J., and April; Alex, Adam, and Heather; Donny, Rachel, Tommy, Brittany, and Bret; Nikki, Derek, and Kyler; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sisters: Marge Gordon of Lake City and Pam Roach of Washington; brothers: Don (Becky) Fertig of Polk City and Michael (Kit) Fertig of Dallas, TX; and many extended family members.

     Jim was preceded in death by his parents; son Jimmy Dale; grandson Eddy; granddaughter Trish; and sisters: Shirley Goheen and Barb Borgardus.
