Roger Feilmeier, age 62, of Early, IA, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 19, 2016, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.  Roger was born on October 23, 1953, the son of Joseph and Elaine (Proost) Feilmeier in Carroll, IA.  He grew up on the family farm near Early.  He attended grade school at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Early and graduated from Crestland High School in 1971.

Roger was united in marriage to Barb Subbert on June 19, 1976, at the Lutheran Church in Early.  This union was blessed with two daughters, Elizabeth and Sarah.  Roger loved his wife, loved his daughters, and they feel very blessed to have spent the last week of his life with him on vacation in Cancun, Mexico.  He worked as a maintenance superintendent at Tyson in Storm Lake for many years.  In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, and finding and renovating old windmills.  He was able to combine his passions for windmills and travel by attending the annual windmill trade fair, as well as driving many miles to find windmill parts and meet fellow windmill enthusiasts.

Roger loved the Lord and loved living for the Lord.  Roger and Barb enjoyed hosting the Sunday morning fellowship meeting in their home for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Barb Feilmeier of Early; daughters: Elizabeth Feilmeier (Bronson Leinen) of Grimes, IA and Sarah Feilmeier of Tucson, AZ.  Roger felt very fortunate to live close to his family: brothers: Ron Feilmeier and wife Marge and Rich Feilmeier and wife Jill all of Early; sister Kathy Feilmeier of Early, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elaine Feilmeier.

Cremation Memorial Service for Roger will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2016, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.  Visitation with viewing will be Friday night from 4-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials will be directed to the Early Fire and Rescue.

“Feilmeier Family, I am so sorry to read about Rogers passing on the Windmill Forum. This is where I knew him. I have admired Roger and his windmill passion and had encouraged him to come visit me in Phoenix see me when he was in Tucson visiting his daughter at the University of Arizona. Unfortunately we were not able to meet. Another thing I admired was Roger's love of the Lord.
I had sent something to Roger that he needed one time and he sent me a thank you card which I still have on a shelf in my shop. I have been away from the computer since the 15th and was saddened to read about his passing this morning on the Windmill Forum. My wife and I will keep the Feilmeier Family in our prayers as we pray for your comfort going thru this difficult time. Jeff Smith ”

“It is so sad to hear of Roger's passing. I always enjoyed visiting with Roger at the Windmillers' Trade Fairs and we also emailed each other a few times over the years. He liked our miniature windmills, too. The last time we visited with Roger was when he and we were leaving the Wiebusch farm near Rochester, MN at the conclusion of the 2015 trade fair. Didn't realize this would be the last time we'd meet. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

“Dear Feilmeier Family,
I was saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Roger! I remember Roger as being nice and fun to be around when our families would get together and process our beef and pork. Also the fun we had chase all the ducks and geese around on the Feilmeier farm. Good, clean (well sometimes we got dirty, you can't play outside and not find dirt....:) ) fun back then! I am sure Roger made a positive impact on a lot of individuals still in and around Early and I am sure he will be truly missed by all. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time.
Warmest regards,
Mary Reis”
