Janice Raine, age 67, of Lake View, IA, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 at Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo, IA.
Janice Joan Raine was born on July 8, 1949, to parents Joseph and Florence (Johnson) Raine in Storm Lake, IA. She was raised on farms in Nemaha and Wall Lake, IA in her childhood. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in Early, IA, on May 24, 1964. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake, was a member of the Daughters of Peace, and was active in the 125th Anniversary Committee for the church. She attended Crestland Elementary School in Early, IA and graduated with the Crestland High School class of 1968.
After high school, she worked on the family farm and also worked at Tjaden’s Café for several years. She enjoyed reading, but she had a huge soft spot in her heart for animals. She loved the animals she cared for including the cattle, cats, dogs and poultry. She also had a collection of stuffed animals, porcelain dolls, and animal figurines that she treasured. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister Zelda (Jerry) Nie of Waterloo, IA; niece Emily Nie, and nephews: Alexander and Michael Nie.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Florence and infant brother.
