Dan Lewis Hendrickson, age 69, of Early, IA, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at the Fonda Specialty Care Center in Fonda, IA. Dan was born on April 21, 1947, to J. Preston and Margaret (Irwin) Hendrickson in Sac City, IA. He was baptized in the Methodist Church.
Dan graduated from Crestland High School in Early with the class of 1965. Following graduation he was inducted into the United States Army on January 31, 1966 serving in Germany and Turkey. He was honorably discharged January 12, 1969.
Following his honorable discharge from the Army he worked for Flame Industries in Minneapolis, MN, and then returned to the Early area where he farmed and set stones for the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. He took care of his mother for many years. Dan loved to watch movies, was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings football team, and enjoyed caring for his cats. He kept up to date on current events and what was going on in the community, even after he entered the nursing home he could tell you about the progress on Highway 20. He will be dearly missed by all who new him.
Survivors include his brothers: David Hendrickson of Early and John (Jan) Hendrickson of Early; his sisters: Jane (Marvin) Meusburger of Spencer and Rose Mary (John) Wheeler of Kansas City, MO; nine nieces and nephews: Holly, Toby, André, Lew, Jason, Anne, Matthew, Sarah, and Janae; eight great nieces and nephews; and two great-great nephews; extended family members and many friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents J. Preston and Margaret Hendrickson; and sister-in-law Nancy Hendrickson.
