Larry J. Freese, age 59, of Early, IA, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.  Larry was born on September 27, 1956, in Carroll, IA, to Virgil and Eula Mae (Crampton) Freese.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church.

Larry graduated from Crestland High School in 1975. While in high school he was active and excelled in every sport and music event he participated in. That same year, on July 26, Larry married his high school sweetheart Dawn Haley at the Presbyterian Church in Early.  This union was blessed with two children Ryan and Megan.

Larry spent 40 years of his life, working in Ag Business as an Applicator and Feed Mill Operator at the Early Coop, Nemaha Milling, and Don’s Farm Supply.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, helping his in-laws farm and most importantly spending time with his family. Larry was a faithful husband, devoted father and Papo to his 8 grandchildren, hardworking, honest man. Larry hosted a weekly men’s Bible Study in his home, and was a huge supporter and encourager of Dawn’s ministry, working diligently behind the scenes doing whatever was needed at the Varina Methodist Church.  He was a Volunteer Fireman and EMT for 23 years. He served as Deacon in the Presbyterian Church and later in the Methodist Church Larry was a Lay Servant, Youth Leader of 15 years, Trustee, and a community member of the Walk to Emmaus.  Larry is most noted for his laugh that could be easily recognized in any crowd. He lived out his wedding vows, “Until death do us part”.  He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife Dawn Freese of Early; son Ryan (wife Jaclyn) Freese of Sheldon; daughter Megan (husband Troy) Jeffrey of Omaha; grandchildren: Christopher and Caitlyn Freese; Savana, Landan, Adisan, Jaxsan, Gracyn and Ashtyn Jeffrey.  Other survivors include his siblings: Gloa Freese of Early, Virginia (husband Jim) Platt of Early, Dianne (Jim) Tiefenthaler of Early, Jerry Freese of Early, and Jeff (wife Chris) Freese of Schleswig; mother-in-law Joan Haley; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Eula Mae; sister Linda Freese; and father-in-law Duane Haley.
