Darlene Hecht, age 80, of Lytton, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Loring Hospital in Sac City.
Darlene was born on June 4, 1928, in Sac City, the youngest daughter of Oscar and Rose Rubendall. She attended the Jackson Township country school, and later graduated from Sac City High School in 1946. After high school, she was employed as a secretary at the Farm Bureau office in Sac City.
Darlene was united in marriage to Eldon Hecht on February 11, 1949. Thereafter, she devoted her life to being a housewife and loving mother of six children on the family farm north of Lytton. Even after her children were grown and raising their own families, everyone enjoyed returning to the family farm for gatherings. Her primary interests were handiwork about the home, gardening, and the activities of her children and grand-children. Darlene was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Eldon, and six children including, Larry (Linda) of Storm Lake, Daryl (Sandy) of Sloan, Evan (Colleen) of Fonda, Rick, (Norma) of Sac City, Dale (Stefanie) of Colorado Springs, CO and Lori (Leland) Koeser, also of Colorado Springs, CO. Darlene is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, Jennifer Hecht, Alisa (Chris) Crandell, Shelli (T.J.) Dredla, Erica (Kyle) Kehrberg, Lindsay Hecht, Ben and Zach Hecht, Stephanie (Justin) Bellcock, Erin and Brian Hecht, Amber (Chris) Cowles, Kaitlyn and Ty Hecht and Nick and Josh Koeser. Great-grandchildren include Nick and Mallory Crandall, Tommy Dredla and Caden Cowles. She will also be missed by three sisters, Bernice Nicholson of Indianola, Rose Nielsen (Erv) of Sioux City, and Charlotte Allen (Stanley) of Odebolt.
