Roselyn Doris (Schwartz) Baskerville, age 81, of Jolley, Iowa, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2014, at home with her family, following a courageous, three-year battle with cancer. Her life on earth was always meant to be a temporary stop as she now joins her heavenly Father for eternity and is once again united with her parents and other loved ones who have gone before her. She brought glory to God by maintaining her child-like faith even during her final difficult years. Her life exemplified what Saint Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Roselyn was born August 23, 1933, in Sac County, IA, the daughter of Fredrick and Christine (Holtorf) Schwartz. The family lived and farmed in rural Sac County. Roselyn was a lifelong member of Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton, IA. She was baptized as an infant on September 17, 1933, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 14, 1946. She attended Lytton Community Schools, graduating from Lytton High School in 1951.

On June 12, 1955, Roselyn was united in marriage at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church to the love of her life, Richard Baskerville. She was blessed with a wonderful husband and beautiful marriage for over 59 years. She and Richard were also blessed with three daughters: Rebecca, Rochelle and Ramona.

Roselyn was a homemaker, farmer's wife and bank employee. She and Richard retired from farming in 2000, but remained living on the farm. She enjoyed church activities, daily devotions and prayer, gardening, bird watching, sewing, cooking, baking, big band music and dancing, playing the piano and singing. But most of all, she just enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, seven grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. She loved attending as many of their activities as she could. Her family will always remember her strong Christian faith that she lived out on a daily basis and instilled in them. Special memories include family vacations and holidays, especially the Christmas gatherings with Roselyn accompanying the traditional sing-a-longs, buggy rides in local parades and horse shows, and car rides around the countryside. Her grandchildren will always remember her kindness and love as she endlessly played with them or gladly welcomed their help with baking, gardening and sewing.
