Genevieve L. Fischer

Genevieve Fischer, age 98, of Lake View, IA, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View.

Genevieve Lenore Hamilton was born on June 13, 1915, to Charles F. and Mary Ellen (Strawn) Hamilton at Hartington, NE. She attended Hartington Elementary and High School, graduating with the class of 1933. She worked in the family’s café while she was in school.

Genevieve was united in marriage to Gerd Fischer and this union was blessed with six children: Raymond, Bill, Margaret, Alice, Kay, and John. Genevieve enjoyed caring for her home and family, tending her garden, quilting, working on crafts and playing cards with her friends and card club. She was a member of the Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Carnarvon. Gerd passed away in 1986.

Survivors include her children: Bill (Shirley) Fischer of Carnarvon; Margaret (Keith) Dixon of Chattanooga, TN; Alice (Robert) Collins of Glendale, AZ; Kay Schumaker of Sac City and John (Micki) Fischer of Arthur, IA; 12 grandchildren: Carolyn, Bonnie, Patricia, Mike, Susan, Bill, Bob, Debbie, Connie, Amy, Mitch and Josh; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; many extended family members and friends.
