David Lamaak, age 70 of Lake View, IA, passed away unexpectedly on September 6, 2023. A beloved husband, father, brother, and son, David James Lamaak was born on September 3, 1953, to parents Orville and Annabelle (Anderson) Lamaak in Iowa City, IA. David grew up with four brothers, Steve, Orville, Murphy, and Marlin.
He was united in marriage to Julie Ziemer on October 23, 1976, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake View. David and Julie welcomed the birth of three boys, Jamie, Travis, and Jason. David also had a son Scott, from a previous marriage.
David worked various types of jobs throughout the years, leading him to meet numerous people that impacted his life. He loved everything that pertained to his family. David was a beloved grandfather to his grandchildren and he loved spending time with them. He loved the outdoors; his favorite pastime was fishing with his boys. He was always willing to lend a hand to help anyone in need. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
David is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Julie Lamaak; sons Scott, Jamie, Travis, and Jason; grandchildren Charlotte Annabelle Lamaak, Gabe Hoefer, Serena Hoefer, and one other grandchild; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Annabelle Lamaak; uncles Merlin Lamaak, Melvin Lamaak, and John Oesau; as well as other extended family members.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS memorials may be given or sent to the family in David's memory to be placed in a scholarship fund for his beloved granddaughter, Charlotte Annabelle.
