George Littlejohn, age 94 of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City, surrounded by his family. George Everett Littlejohn, Jr. was born on April 19, 1929, to parents George Sr. and Grace (Cummings) Littlejohn in Chicago, IL. He was the fourth born of five children. George and his family lived in Illinois, Arizona, and then in El Reno, OK. He graduated from El Reno High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country for four years.
George married and was blessed with five sons, Keith, Kenneth, Ronald, Gerald, and Robert. On August 9, 1958, George married Merville Marie Eichorn at a church in Weston, MO. George gained three more sons, Larry, Richard, and Martin. He worked for the Railroad as a machinist and the shop he worked at was just a few blocks away from a little café he visited frequently. It was there that George met Marie. The couple celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary just two weeks prior to George’s passing.
The couple raised their family in the Kansas City, KS, area where George remained working for the Santa Fe Railroad until retiring in 1989. He and Marie were both baptized as adults at the First Christian Church in Kansas City, where they were members for many years.
George enjoyed woodworking and created many beautiful items for friends, family, and even charities. He was a member of the Eagles Club and The American Legion for many years. He always looked forward to fishing in his free time and watched a lot of football and baseball, especially the OU football team during the time his brother coached there. Together, George and Marie enjoyed many years of ballroom dancing. Marie stated that the key to their successful marriage was that they were a 50/50 couple. Each of them pitched in whenever needed, always realizing it was a team effort. They also enjoyed traveling later in life. They visited places like Niagara Falls, Arizona, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida just to name a few. George and Marie moved to Sac City in 2001, to be closer to family and to get out of the big city. George will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Littlejohn of Sac City, IA; children: Larry (Cathy) Littlejohn of Sac City, IA, Richard (Patricia) Littlejohn of Stover, MO, Keith (Bonnie) Littlejohn of Omaha, NE, Kenneth (Patty) Littlejohn of VA, and Ronald Littlejohn; daughter-in-law Beth Littlejohn of Sandy Point, TX; forty-three grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; sister Betty Hart of OK; sister-in-law Eunice Alexander of Leavenworth, KS; many extended family members and friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Grace Littlejohn; sons Gerald Littlejohn, Robert Littlejohn, and Martin Littlejohn; brothers Charles Littlejohn and Ray Littlejohn; sister Archie Dingman; and brother-in-law Charles Eichorn.

“I had the opportunity to meet George when my mother moved to Park View. I loved to talk with him, listen to him sing, and listen to him share stories of his life. He will be greatly misses by all who knew him. May all of your wonderful memories and God's loving arms support you during this difficult time.”
