Randy Luckow

Randy Luckow, age 67, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA. Randall Dean Luckow was born on May 9, 1946 to parents Lawrence and Wilma (Poen) Luckow in Sac City, IA. He grew up on the family farm in Sac County and attended Country School for two years before attending Sac City schools graduating with the Sac City High School class of 1964. Randy joined the US Army Reserves and served with the Battery A 3rd Battalion 14th Artillery starting in July of 1964. He achieved the rank of E5 Sergeant and earned the honor of a sharp shooter before his honorable discharge in September of 1969.

He married his lifetime love, Betty Lou Lowry, on May 6, 1966 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sac City. They were blessed with two children Todd and Teri. Randy worked hard to support his family as a farmer, carpenter and an electrician. After his retirement in 2008 he continued his love of working outdoors while making time for woodworking and a few rounds of golf. He will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Betty; children: Todd Alan (Teri Kay) Luckow of Sac City, IA, and Teri Ann Higgins of Sac City, IA; grandchildren: Caleb and Jordan Luckow of Sioux City, IA, Brent Graybill of Sac City, IA and Ashley (Devin) Conover of Coralville, IA; great-grandchild Maya Conover; mother-in-law Donna Lowry of Sac City, IA; brothers: Ronald Luckow of Marion, IA, Lyle (Nancy) Luckow of Grimes, IA, Lennis (Penny) Luckow of Litchfield Park, AZ; sister Marilyn (Dale) Cates of Storm Lake, IA, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Wilma; brothers: Robert and Steve Luckow; sisters: Jean Hayzlett and Deanne Luckow; son-in-law Tim Higgins and father-in-law Delbert Lowry.
