Charlie Grau

Charles “Charlie” D. Grau, age 81, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.

Charlie was born on February 18, 1932, to Carl and Margaret (Strohmeir) Grau in Lake View, IA. He had resided at numerous locations before coming to Sac City where he lived at a Howard Center Group Home for many years and then became a resident at Park View Rehabilitation Center.

Many remember Charlie in his younger years, as he walked around town, stopping at his favorite businesses and greeting those he knew. He loved hats and going to the Spencer and Sac County Fair. Hanging out at the former Pronto Gas Station made his day. He enjoyed all the activities and outings at the nursing home, looking at the Messenger daily, and was an avid Hawkeye’s Fan. He will be missed.

Charlie is survived by his sister Carol Grau of Sac City. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert and sister Elma Grau.
