Larry Klindt, age 76 of Sac City, IA, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at UnityPoint – Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Larry John Klindt was born on April 29, 1944 to parents Jack and Nellie (Tatman) Klindt in Mason City, IA. He grew up in Sac City where he attended grade school and high school. He later earned a degree at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, IA. In 1965 Larry enlisted into the United States Navy to serve his country in the Vietnam War. He served as a radar tech for four years before joining the Reserves in 1969. He was honorably discharged on November 22, 1971.
After leaving the Navy, Larry moved to Tulsa to work for Telex. He worked there for a couple of years before moving back to Sac City to take care of his mom. He worked at Noble Manufacturing for many years and spent the majority of his career working at L&M Electronics until he retired.
On July 16, 1977 Larry was united in marriage to Mary Mizer at the First Baptist Church in Sac City, IA. He affectionately referred to her as, “Mouse.” This union was blessed with a son, Todd. They made their home in Sac City. In his free time he liked collecting model trains and guns, and driving his 1977 Bandit Trans Am.
Larry was very active within the Faith Bible Church in Sac City, of which he was a charter member. He served as Deacon, helped with the AWANA Program for kids, and was very encouraging to his pastor. Larry also took an active role in the community volunteering with his wife. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Mary Klindt of Sac City, IA; son Todd (Jill) Klindt of Ames, IA; grandchildren: Lily and Owen Klindt; and his Birthday Buddy, Penny Klindt. He will also be deeply missed by his sister-in-law Sandie Campbell of Lake View; his niece Georgia (Cookie) Martin of Des Moines, and her family; and his nephew John Anderson of Ankeny, and his family.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lewis and Donald Montgomery; sister Delores Klindt; and parents-in-law Orville and Lucile Mizer.
