Albert Ohden, age 92 of Carnarvon, IA, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA.

Albert Bertus Ohden was born on April 16, 1928, to parents Henry Ranke and Pauline (Gerdes) Ohden in Bonesteel, SD. He lived in Bonesteel during his younger years but he and his family eventually moved to Wall Lake where he attended school. Albert graduated from Wall Lake High School with the Class of 1946. He went to work for Hallett Materials before entering the Army and being stationed overseas in Okinawa during the Korean Conflict. He spent two years on active duty and four years on inactive duty being honorably discharged on June 28, 1957.
On December 27, 1953, Albert was united in marriage to Shirley Hudgin at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Carnarvon, IA. This union was blessed with two sons, Neil and Craig.

Albert and Shirley lived on a farm near Arcadia, IA, that they farmed for about four years. During this time he also worked for Heisterkamp Ford in Breda, IA, Case (Jack Fogerty) in Carnarvon, for Ronald Meyer Popcorn, and at Wall Lake Farm Equipment in Wall Lake.

Albert held several positions and offices at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Carnarvon where he was a life-long member including Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Elder, and was a Trustee just to name a few. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering with/fixing things…after all, anything can be fixed, right? Albert also enjoyed all the time he spent blowing snow over the years. He was a member of the Wall Lake Volunteer Fire Department, VFW Post 653 of Lake View, and American Legion Chalon Post 262 of Wall Lake. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Shirley Ohden of Carnarvon, IA; children Neil (Jana) Ohden of Clarinda, IA, and Craig Ohden of Wall Lake, IA; grandchildren: Alison (Matt) Bieret, Hanna Ohden, Seth Ohden, and Clay Mathers; great-grandchildren: Rayden Mathers, Maxwell Bieret, and Mallory Bieret; many extended family members and friends.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Pauline Ohden; brothers James Ohden; grandson Christopher Ohden; parents-in-law Logan and Gladys Hudgin; brother-in-law Richard (Alice) Hudgin; and niece Donna Hudgin-Gill.
