David Walter, age 69 of Sac City, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. David Andrew Walter was born on March 2, 1951, to parents Gerald Clarence and Alma Marie (Wotton) Walter in Detroit, MI. He, along with his two siblings, were raised in Michigan and later on, Texas. David was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church. He graduated with the Class of 1971 from Richland Senior High School in North Richland Hills, TX.
For most of his life, David worked as an aircraft machinist. He retired on March 2, 2013; it was then that he moved to Iowa. He first resided in Alta and then bought a house and lived in Sac City where his son and grandchildren reside. He was so happy to be close to them once again. After retirement, in his spare time, he enjoyed collecting old coins. He also loved working on old cars and trucks. Spending time in his garage always made him happy.
In November of 2019, David’s health started to decline at a rapid pace. Over the next six months, he was faced with many severe illnesses. He fought a good fight and was able to overcome several of them. David was a good man who loved his family above all else. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him.
David leaves behind his son, Ricky Walter (Rachel Berning) of Sac City, IA; stepson Bob (Andre) Holsomback of Davenport, IA; grandchildren: Angel, Samantha, Lincoln, Kaden, Rylan, Colten and Andi; brother Gerald Alan Walter of Midlothian, VA; sister Susan Beasley of North Richland Hills, TX; many extended family members and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Clarence and Alma Marie Walter; and brother-in-law Wayne Beasley.
