Ricky (Rick) Jarvis, age 59 of Arthur, IA, passed away on April 15th, 2020, at his residence in Arthur with his family by his side. Ricky Joe Jarvis was born on June 7, 1960, and was adopted by Wilbur and Ethel (Stone) Jarvis at the age of two. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City, IA. Rick grew up in Sac City where he attended grade school and later Sac Community High School.
Rick married the love of his life, Andrea Denise Kapayou in Tama, IA. This union was blessed with three children: twin sons, Shane and Shaun, and a daughter, Denae. Rick farmed with his father in his younger years. He was also a cabinet maker and did beautiful work. Rick’s passion though was always music. He gave guitar lessons and had his own band named Lazarus. Rick was an amazing songwriter, often writing originals.
Rick loved life and put his family above all and enjoyed spending time with them. He liked fishing and loved the outdoors. Hiking in the mountains was on his list of favorite things to do. Rick loved traveling. He was known to just take off on an adventure to see where he’d end up.
Rick was a loving, caring, generous and selfless man. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Andrea Denise Kapayou Jarvis of Arthur, IA; children Shane Jarvis of Arthur, IA, Shaun Jarvis of Lafayette, LA, Denae Jarvis of Arthur, IA; grandchildren Dominic and Liam Jarvis of Tama, IA; sisters Diane Jarvis of Arthur, IA, Shae Godfrey of Tucson, AZ; many extended family members and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Ethel Jarvis; paternal grandparents Thomas and Bertha Jarvis; maternal grandparents Curtis and Christina Stone; aunts and uncles Clayton “Bud” and Judy Stone, Raymond and Dorothy Jarvis, Gerald “Babe” and Daisy Young, Garland and Shirley Meyer, and Willard Jarvis.
