Donald Henry Gronemeyer, age 67 of Odebolt, IA, passed away on Thursday, July 4th, 2019, at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Don was born on June 20, 1952, in Storm Lake, IA, to P.J. and Leota “Odie” (Roeh) Gronemeyer. He graduated from Odebolt-Arthur High School with the class of 1971. Following graduation, Don enlisted into the United States Army. He trained in Fort Riley, KS, Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and Fort Bliss, TX and then stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1974.
Don and his life partner, of 42 years, Jewelene Rosemeyer raised daughter, Jasmine in Westside, IA. Then later moved back to Odebolt, IA, in 1987. Don began working for Farmland/Smithfield Foods in Denison, IA, in 1977 and worked there until he retired in August 2015. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, and Foosball. He was an avid NHRA drag race fan and Kansas City Chiefs fan. Don was a devoted partner, dad, grandpa, and dog owner; was kind and good to everyone. He was always generous and loyal to his friends and family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Don is survived by his partner, Jewelene Rosemeyer of Odebolt, daughter Jasmine Rosemeyer, and granddaughter Hannah Rosemeyer, both of Galva, and many extended family members and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; half brothers: Dale, Tom, and Lyle Gronemeyer, and half-sister Marion Reis.
