Helen Imogene Weltzheimer, age 96, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Helen was born on February 10, 1923, in Sac City, to Morris and Inez (Putnam) Stevens. She attended country school and graduated from Sac City High School with the Class of 1941. Her parents farmed various farms around Sac City. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sac City and was baptized in the Raccoon River.
On January 12, 1946, Helen was united in marriage to Wayne Woodrow Weltzheimer at the United Methodist Church in Sac City. This union was blessed with two children, Barbara and David. Wayne farmed and the family settled on a farm close to Lytton, IA. Helen was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved caring for her family. She enjoyed baking, sewing and knitting many wonderful family treasures. She worked outside the home as a secretary at the Court House, was a Domestic Helper for the Ronald Wilson family, and worked as a nurses aid at Loring Hospital. She cherished her grandchildren and especially loved spending time with family.
Survivors include her children: Barbara Johnson of Aurora, CO, and David (Lynne) Weltzheimer of Manson, IA; grandchildren: Michelle Johnson of Irvine, CA, Danielle Johnson of Aurora, CO, Scott (Carin) Weltzheimer of Sac City, IA, and Sara Weltzheimer of Manson, IA; great grandchildren: Esteban Zavala of Aurora, CO, Paysli, Chase, and Baylee Weltzheimer of Sac City, IA; nephews: Melvin Zollman, Morris (Holly) Schertz; nieces: Naomi (Melvin) Witzke, Collette (Oliver) Herman, and Lynnette (Roger) Radke; many great-nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Inez; husband Wayne Weltzheimer; sisters: Ilene (Hubert) Zollman, Elva (Carl) Schertz, and Ruth Stevens; triplet siblings: Harold, Robert and Waunita Stevens.
